Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
1. Scope
This policy explains how Chronicle handles information during date searches, story browsing, visitor measurement, advertising and feedback preparation. Hosting infrastructure processes operational logs under its own policies.
2. Browsing and visitor analytics
Date searches, category filters and story browsing run in your browser. Chronicle uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visitor traffic and how the archive is used. Analytics can process page addresses and titles, referring pages, browser and device information, approximate location and interactions configured in the Google Analytics property. Page addresses can include the searched date or selected category. We also measure advertisement requests, filled placements and viewable impressions by placement and page type, without sending feedback fields.
The Google tag may set first-party cookies to distinguish browsers and sessions and send usage information to Google. Our Google Analytics configuration disables Google Signals and analytics advertising personalization. These analytics settings do not control the separate advertising service. The site has no membership registration or payment system. Learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy.
3. Advertising
Content pages use Google Ad Manager to display advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may process page information, device and browser information, network identifiers, approximate location, ad interactions and cookies for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. Ad selection depends on the advertising service, available inventory and applicable consent settings.
Advertisements are labelled separately from editorial content. Google manages the controls for native anchor and interstitial advertisements, including their close controls and frequency limits. Advertising services may use browser storage to apply frequency limits. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services and manage preferences through My Ad Center.
4. Feedback
The contact form creates a feedback file inside your browser. Its contents are not automatically uploaded or sent to the site operator, and our analytics code does not send the feedback fields. You decide whether to keep, share or delete the downloaded file. Avoid including passwords, identity documents or other sensitive information.
5. Images and external links
Historical images are served from this site, so viewing them does not require your browser to contact the original image host. Google Analytics and Google Ad Manager use external Google services. Advertisements may load resources from advertising partners. Following a source or advertisement link takes you to a third-party website with its own privacy policy.
6. Storage and security
Chronicle does not save search or feedback history in browser storage. Google services may store analytics and advertising cookies or advertising frequency-limit data in your browser. Hosting infrastructure may log network requests for security and troubleshooting under the hosting platform’s privacy policy.
7. Your choices and contact
You can control or delete cookies using your browser settings and use browser privacy tools to limit analytics and advertising requests. Where a consent message is supplied by the advertising service, use it to manage your choices. The footer shows a Privacy and cookie settings control when the Google consent API is available, allowing you to reopen its message and change your decision. Deleting cookies does not delete information already processed by Google. Use the contact page to prepare comments about content or privacy. A public operator contact address will be added there when available.
